This documentary takes a deep dive into how the Bush administration strategically used the shock and fear of the 9/11 attacks to justify a sweeping global war, beginning with the invasion of Afghanistan and ultimately leading to the controversial war in Iraq. What began as a mission to eliminate Osama bin Laden and dismantle Al-Qaeda quickly morphed into something far larger, as key neo-conservative figures within the administration saw an opportunity to push their long-held vision of regime change in the Middle East. With claims that Saddam Hussein possessed weapons of mass destruction (WMDs) and posed an imminent threat, the U.S., backed by its closest ally, the UK, launched a war that would destabilize the region for decades. Through insights from acclaimed historians and authors Guy Walters and Natasha Lindstaedt, alongside uncovered documents and in-depth analysis, this film reveals how a devastating national tragedy was manipulated to serve political and ideological goals. It exposes the layers of deliberate misinformation, media complicity, and calculated maneuvering that led to one of the most costly and controversial military campaigns in modern history.
